Developer does not see Jackson on Publix radar

Gary Taylor still believes today what he said in October 2014.

He says the Jackson area is primed for another supermarket, but when asked if he thought Publix or Trader Joe's might be a player, the owner, developer and manager of the Gary A. Taylor Investment Co. wasn’t optimistic about the possibilities.

“The issue for Publix is distribution and advertising,” Taylor said. “Most grocers want to come into the market with at least two stores to gain adequate market share. Since Publix does not have any stores in the Memphis market, the distribution would get complicated and expensive for them to operate in Jackson, Tennessee.

"They have looked, but the market is too small at the present time."
